Storing meat products
- If you intend to barbecue or grill the chicken meat it is better to cut it into thinner slices - in this way the meat will be ready in just a few minutes, and you can be sure that any accidentally fallen in microorganisms will be completely destroyed.
- If a piece of chicken meat is fresh, you can tell this by its colour - if the meat has turned white this means that it has been kept longer than necessary. The whitening of the meat is not a cause for concern if it has not reached its expiry date as marked on the label. Most of the chilled chicken products made by Gala Invest Holding arrive in the stores - and from there at your table - within 24 hours.
- When the chicken meat is roasted in an open vessel it is possible that it might turn out dry. To prevent this, before roasting the meat, keep it for 5 min. in boiling water. In this way, it won't "shrink" and will be much tastier.
- Before buying the meat, first check the production date and the expiry period of the product. Through its electronic-fiscal system, Gala Invest Holding ensures that the meat delivered to the store is fresh and properly transported, but not all producers apply this measure.
- Carefully inspect the label to check whether the product inside does not contain any unwanted additives, colourings or preservatives;
- Buy only the exact amount of meat which you require for the particular dish and number of people. This way, you will always eat fresh products;
- Keep chicken products at a temperature of 1 - 4 degrees [Centigrade] in suitable closed containers or wrappings. This way, there will be no risk of bacteria from other products in the fridge reaching the meat;
- Freeze any product only as a last resort - freezing products under industrial conditions can preserve their qualities but this requires the use of equipment which you do not have at home;
- Defrost the meat immediately before use. We recommend to defrost the meat at room temperature and not in hot water or the microwave - this will preserve its good taste and vitamin content;
- Once defrosted, the meat should not be frozen again because it will totally lose its taste qualities. Multiple freezing and defrosting destroy the meat's structure;
- If you want easily to cut the meat into thin stripes put it in the fridge's freezer for 1 hour and cut it as soon as you take it out;
- To preserve the meat fresh in the fridge, daub it with lemon juice. The lemon juice has also another benefit - the aroma and tenderness it will lend to the meat.
